Bar Harbor to Key West

This is the initial post to the blog for my Bar Harbor Maine to Key West Florida bike trip scheduled to begin on September 9th, 2010. I have aquired a new touring bike for the trip, a Surly Long Haul Trucker and a B.O.B. trailer to haul my stuff. So far, I have used the trailer to haul my recycling to the recycling dumpster and to get gas for my lawn mower. The bike handles fine with the trailer. The bike itself is very easy to ride. It has bar end shifters which I didn't think I would like but now I find that I prefer them. It is easy to see which gears you are in while you are riding. This bike is also easier to climb hills as it has a very low gear set. All in all, I think it will be perfect for the trip.
